Latest money news: Martin Lewis explains how to get £1,700 energy bill help from British Gas
Welcome to Metro’s money blog where we’re sharing the latest advice on how to manage your energy bills from Money Saving Expert Martin Lewis.
His team has updated their advice today after Ofgem’s energy price cap went up today, bumping most bills up by about 10%.
If you’re worried about being able to pay those bills, first off Martin recommends speaking with your energy provider, because legally they have to help you.
But a lot of big firms have charitable funds which can help you if you’re in debt due to energy costs.
And unlike the others, you don’t even have to be a British Gas customer to apply to their fund – which could be worth up to £1,700.
