Drivers are set to experience ‘substantial disruption’ this weekend as a chunk of the M4 will be closed.

The motorway will be closed in both directions between junctions 18 and 19 from 7pm on Friday to 6am on Monday while a trench is dug under the motorway.

The work is being done to divert utilities underground before the overhead bridge is demolished next year.

Drivers are being told to avoid the area.

Meanwhile, a series of closures across London’s public transport network have been announced for this weekend.

The Piccadilly line, London Overground and DLR all have planned part-closures scheduled, while part of the Elizabeth Line will run reduced services.

The Overground will be affected by part-closures and reduced services at various times, with full details available via TfL’s status updates.
