Welcome to Metro’s money blog, where we’re looking at the best supermarket for shoppers who want to save a bit of cash.

Consumer website Which? has revealed the UK chains in the UK that were cheapest last month, and the results are probably exactly what you’re expecting.

The two German discount stores Aldi and Lidl comfortably lead the table, with a basket of 59 items costing £102.68 and £103.86 respectively, while Waitrose was the most expensive option with a similar basket costing £130.37.
