Iceland loves its King Prawn Ring so much it’s putting a ring on it – well, the legal equivalent

Welcome to Metro.co.uk’s money blog, where we’re covering the sufficiently sassy response from Aldi to Iceland’s very stern legal threat.

Keen to avoid another Colin the Caterpillar court battle, Iceland wants to trademark its King Prawn Ring product and has asked rival supermarkets such as Tesco, Aldi and Asda to ‘think twice about including an imposter’.

‘Lol our lawyers aren’t scared of nothing,’ Aldi casually replied to Iceland’s open letter on X today. Lidl too, with a spokesperson saying: ‘Here was us thinking it was a classic 1970s party dish.’

In only a few days, electricity and gas bills are set to jump by £149. Of course, though, the Money Saving Expert-turned-guardian-angel Martin Lewis is on GMB today revealing how to ‘stop the 10% price hike’, he wrote on X. Martin explained on the morning breakfast programme that if looking to switch or lock into a tariff, timing is everything.
